CLÁR Bilingual Signage Scheme

IDP administers the Clár Programme in partnership with the Department of Community Rural & Gaeltacht Affairs within the Inishowen area. The Programme assists rural development within regions designated as being Clár areas – areas having a significant population decline. Funding is available under the Bi-lingual Signage Scheme – Village and Townland.
The aim of the scheme is to provide funds for the erection of private, Village and Townland bilingual signs.

Nature and level of co-funding:

1. Village/Townland Signage

  • 2 way equal funding split between CLÁR and Local Community subject to a maximum of €2,000 per project from CLÁR.
  • Local Action Group (LEADER acts as co-ordinator and invites community groups to apply.

2. Private Village Signage:

  • 2 way equal funding split between CLÁR and the private individual(s) involved – subject to a maximum of €1,000 from CLÁR. The private individual(s) funds the remainder.
  • The Local Action Group (LEADER) acts as co-ordinator and invites community groups to apply.
