Aim of Training

The Inishowen Development Partnership offers training to local community and voluntary groups with the aim of building the capacity of these groups to work effectively together to achieve their goals. The IDP would endeavour through the delivery of training to meet the needs of the local community and voluntary sector to have a clear vision of their role, to evaluate the effectiveness of their work and to plan.

Training Offered.

In the years IDP has offered both accredited and non-accredited training to participants. Subjects have included

  • Committee Skills
  • Corporate Governance
  • Roles of Management Committee Members
  • Funding
  • Strategic Planning
  • Social Analysis – FETAC Level 6.

In order to ensure that the training offered is relevant and responsive to the needs of the group IDP periodically carries out training needs analyses to ascertain the areas that local groups have identified in terms of their training needs

Inishowen Development Partnership has worked closely with the Community Workers Co-operative and other community organisations in the delivery of training locally

IDP has also provided group facilitation to address particular needs or issues that might have arisen for a particular local group. In these circumstances the training would be customised to the group needs and would address live issues such as planning, clarifying roles and responsibilities and dealing with conflict.

IDP staff work with local groups on a number of initiatives including Mens Sheds Projects, Coderdojo, Horticulture Programmes, Womens groups and local resource centre and youth organisations
