Residents Associations (Social Housing Estates) Support Work

To support and develop residents associations and estate management in consultation with residents, the local authority and community and voluntary groups

  • To provide training in estate management
  • To link with the local authority to enhance the involvement of local communities in their estates

To raise awareness of the issues facing local authority tenants and empower residents to have a greater say in the development of their community. To build communication/relationships between local services providers, the local authority, community and voluntary sector and residents

  • Develop training programme in estate management
  • Establish and support local residents groups
  • Coordination of supports, services, resources and information between services providers
  • Enhance skills and capacity through training and development supports for residents
  • Information and support on policy development
  • Linking in to local community forum and local area meetings of the Council

Key areas of work:

  • Research and identify residents groups in the Inishowen area, new and established, and potential groups
  • Provide developmental support
  • Identify with groups their training needs
  • Facilitate in the planning and development of the groups’ work programmes
  • Identify funding support and assist in application process
  • Link with key agencies to develop relationships with residents groups
